Thanks

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Friday, November 28, 2008, In : life

I know Thanksgiving was yesterday, but why should we only give thanks for what we have on one day of the year? We should be thankful everyday and express gratitude for our life. Thanksgiving may be over, but there will be more days to come where you have the opportunity to help others in some way. I have taken some time to put up a List of 10 things I’m thankful for:

-living a healthy life.
-having a caring and loving family.
-having good and understanding friends.
-having delicious food t...

Four Haikus

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Friday, November 21, 2008, In : poetry

I’m not an extraordinary poet or someone that writes poems all the time, but when I feel like it and have free time (or I have to write something for my English journals), I write short poems. Most of the short poems I write are haikus, my favorite type of poetry for being short and simple (no stressed-syllables or rhymes to worry about, like on limericks). If you never heard of haikus, they are three-line poems originated in Japan. The first and third lines have five syllables, while the s...

Excuse my procrastination if I don't make a post

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Thursday, November 20, 2008, In : life

I have been busy recently, and I feel like it’s my fault (it is, but the teachers’ "brilliant" ideas for holidays have to do with it too). Well, I wasted another holiday and now find myself doing the essay at the last minute. If only time could be bought (I hope it’s cheap) or re-used, then I could finally do at least half of the things I want to do in my life. I’ll be posting some of my haikus in the next few days, and should make myself write down the "What’s in the Playlist?" art...

Unite to Reunite Refugees with their families

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, In : blogging

We take a lot of things for granted. We live (relatively) normal lives, coming home to our families after a day of school or work, without anymore worries than an average person and with problems that could usually be solved with some of our effort. That’s not the case of the millions of refugees around the world who can’t return back to their homes and are usually separated from their families.

The lives of most refugees are ones of survival, of trying to fit in, of enduring constant d...

I added an mp3 to the forum today (I finally got my lazy hands into doing it). The song's called A Knight's Oath, from Fire Emblem Blazing Sword. It was reccomended by purplefinch a few days ago (along with a list of her other favorte Fire Emblem songs). I hope you like it too (If the song doesn't load for you, listen to it in the fourm or download Quicktime).I'll probably post again later today or tomorrow, so check back soon. If you would like to reccomend your song to be featured on the si...

Doesn't matter we're all blue

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Thursday, November 6, 2008, In : life

Ok, some of the candidates I wanted to win didn’t. The island’s almost all blue (and not in a good way, since the elections weren't as close as I expected). But that’s ok; because now if the government is lazier and dumber, then people will learn not to vote for the same old money wasters (they’ll have to gain consciousness eventually). Also, like everybody expected, Barack Obama won the USA elections and became the 44th elected president of the nation. Hope he brings more than just a...

Feel Vote

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, In : life

Today’s Election Day (here and in the USA), and even though it should be quiet, and there should be no more campaign ads or noise, it feels like the candidates have a last minute urge to get more voters. I don’t vote, but that doesn’t mean I can’t support candidates and convince my family for whom to vote (which I did). I’m not an anarchist, but I believe giving a vote to “Nobody” as write-in candidate on the ballots wouldn’t be such a bad idea (to express our distrust and ang...

What’s in the Playlist: Treason by Kutless

Posted by Mercenary of Light on Saturday, November 1, 2008, In : music

I’ll start this blog off by adding one of my favorite songs to the playlist. This is my favorite Kutless song and the one that got me into listening to them. The song’s a little hard rocking, but mostly just catchy and thought-provoking. The song’s about hypocrisy and religious betrayal; people who praise God at one moment, but then turn their backs on him.

Lyrics:

It all starts here with my disgrace
I give you my life then I run in haste
In this false life something needs to give
